Ravagni

Before we left Anghiari, we toured the local oil mill where locals bring their olives to be pressed. It was good timing since we’d spent the morning harvesting olives from Brent’s grove. At Ravagni, the mill, the same grindstones have been in operation since 1421. The Bartolomei family runs the mill and fed us lunch and gave a tasting after the tour. They were very gracious. The elder Bartolomei publishes books of poetry too and gave Thorpe a selection of books
From his press. Francesco the younger gave us a lead on the apartment where we’re staying now in Florence.

Those stones have ground a lot of olives.

Francesco was fun.

Lunch.
